Enhancing the lives of Northern Ireland’s Care Home Residents
The Story Behind Harry’s Help
Established in 2024, Harry’s Help is a registered charity with a Christian ethos that seeks to enhance the lives of Northern Ireland’s Care Home residents by providing grants for recreational activities.
The charity was established in memory of Harry Arbuthnot, who lived in three Care Homes following his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia at the age of 66.
His family saw first-hand the benefits of stimulating activities in the homes and the charity seeks to provide more opportunities for recreation for Care Home residents throughout Northern Ireland.

What We Do
We fundraise and raise awareness.
Care Homes apply to us for funding for recreational activity.
Where possible, a grant is made to the Care Home.
Care Home staff arrange the activity for their residents.
Examples of what we may fund include, but are not limited to: Fun days, afternoon teas, day trips, craft supplies and the purchase of sensory equipment.
Grants are typically a maximum of £250, but applications will be considered on an individual basis.
